American Girl Crochet Pattern
An A-Line Skirt
and a Long Sleeve Sweater

I used a worsted weight 100% cotton yarn.

Sweater Pattern:

Hook: Size J

Gauge: 4 SC = 1 inch

Chain 47.

Rows 1-7: SC in every stitch, chain 1, turn.

Row 8: SC in 33 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Rows 9-17: SC in 19 stitches, chain 1, turn.

This completes the front half of the sweater.

Repeat the above to make the back of the sweater.

Weave side and sleeve seams.

With a contrasting color, insert yarn, beginning at a side seam, and chain in all stitches along bottom edge. Cut yarn and bury end.

Make one buttonhole at each back neck edge by chaining 4 stitches. Pull a 10 inch yarn length through the loop on your hook. Thread a needle with the yarn end and attach it about 3/8 inch from the neck edge seam.

Make two crocheted buttons from the contrasting color and attach on the front of the sweater.

Skirt Pattern

Chain 34.

Rows 1-2: SC in each stitch, ch 1, turn.

Row 3 (Increase row): 2 SC in first stitch, SC in each until the last stitch, and 2 SC in last stitch, ch 1, turn.

Rows 4-5: Repeat Rows 1-2.

Row 6: Repeat Row 3.

Row 7: SC in every stitch, ch 1, turn.

Row 8: SC 10, 2 SC in next stitch, SC 19, 2 SC in next stitch, SC in each stitch until last stitch, ch 1, turn.

Row 9: Repeat Row 7.

Row 10: SC 11, 2 SC in next stitch, SC 19, 2 SC in next stitch, SC in each stitch until last stitch, ch 1, turn.

Row 11: Repeat Row, ending without the chain 1. Cut yarn about 12-14 inches and pull through the last loop.

Insert contrasting color yarn and chain in every stitch along bottom edge.

With main color, weave back seam from the bottom to 1 inch from the top. Bury yarn end.

Sew one button and make a button loop by chaining 3-5 stitches, depending on the size of your button. I used a 3/4 inch button and needed 4 chains.
